Matchess, Gel Set, and Fools Rush play the ZACC tonight, Saturday, July 4th at 8pm. Maybe you do? If so, get your ass to the ZACC tonight. Not really my cup of tea, but I know Missoula loves stuff like this. It’s pop punk, they apparently won some best punk bands of 2015 list. I think the video is kinda “whatever” but the song is cool:įools Rush hail from the other side of the country, Portland, Oregon, and really couldn’t be any more different from the above.

If you’re a fan of Stacian or even stuff like Maria Minerva, this is completely for you.

Gel Set is similar in that she’s also from Chicago and that she’s another solo synth act but while Matchess occasionally plays with the chaos within her soundscapes, Gel Set opts for rhythmic intensity. She’s working in some territory reminiscent of Cluster & Eno, some kind of electronic neo-krautrock thing and I feel 100% like I’m using the term “krautrock” in the right context here. Matchess (Whitney Johnson of Verma) is one of those great, cerebral synth acts I tend to freak out about. Zootown Arts Community Center 501(c)(3), 216 W Main St,Missoula,MT,United States, Missoula, United States. I plan on being one of the only people unaffiliated with the venue or the bands and man, the temperature’s awfully nice in that basement. I just know that all of you would raise hell if this place-you-never-go-to was shuttered. Cool places like this won’t survive if they aren’t used. You barely go out to events like this on the Fourth of July, you hate paying for anything, and you’ve been woefully under-supporting the ZACC for as long as it’s been around.

You can always prove me wrong Missoula, but I feel like I know you pretty well. I’m normally not so negative but I feel the need to express how horribly sorry I am for all these bands.
